From coast to coast, there is a rapid loss of nature - a dire threat to our nation’s health and prosperity. To safeguard natural systems at risk of collapse and fight climate change, the United States must confront this threat without delay.
Think of all the times you've turned to nature during the pandemic to find some sort of comfort or normalcy in a topsy turvy world. Now think about what that place would be like if it were constantly flooded, or birds stopped visiting, or wildfires destroyed it. These things are happing now around the country to our natural places. But we can turn things around to save our natural places and restore those damaged by climate change and habitat destruction.
The climate and nature crises we currently face demand we achieve large scale conservation of our natural places. On January 27, 2021 the Biden Administration led the charge by declaring it to be the nation's goal to protect 30% of our lands, waters, and ocean by 2030.
To succeed, we need to use science planning to identify, conserve, and protect climate-resilient habitats and to mitigate and compensate for ecological disruption resulting from climate change, deforestation, land use conversion, overfishing, and other impacts. This will require Congressional support and funding.
Now we need YOUR help. It is your voice that makes a difference. Every member of Congress should support this effort. We need you to help us raise our voice on behalf of our natural places by asking your member of Congress to publicly show support for President Biden's new national goal to conserve 30% of our lands and waters by 2030 through stakeholder engagement.
